     a. Stylizing a standard

     c. Application of 4-5part writing to orchestration
     d. Shape approach applied to Big Band writing
3.  Study of 1920's - 30's styles
     a. Application of orchestration for banjo, xylophone, soprano  
         sax, clarinet, muted brass, Tuba
     b. Shape approach applied to 20's & 30's styles
     c. 1920's - 1930's Project
4.  Study of 1940's Dance band styles
     a. Application of orchestration for 'Miller' Clarinet lead, plungers,  
         free areas, interludes
     b. Shape approach applied to 1940's styles
     c. 1940 Big band Project
5.  Composing a Pop ballad
     a. Application of orchestration for strings, oboe, harp, contemporary
         rhythm section, percussion
     b. Shape approach applied to Pop Ballad styles
     c. Pop Ballad Project
6.  Study of Funk Styles (ala Tower of Power)
     a. Writing for up to 6 horns, Funk Rhythm section, Synth, Percussion
     b. Composing an original Funk song
     c. Shape approach applied to Funk styles
     d. Funk Project
7.  Study of traditional Broadway styles, legit orchestration
     a. Broadway orchestration applied to strings, woodwinds, Brass,
         Fr. Horn
     b. Broadway arranging elements - putting a chart 'together'
     c. Shape approach applied to Broadway
     d. Conducting considerations

1. Big band Jazz Chart (5 saxes, 8 brass, 4 rhythm)
2. 1920's-30's Chart (Woodwind,  Brass sections, Tuba,  20's rhythm section
3. 1940's Chart with 5 saxes, 7 brass, 4 rhythm
4. Pop Ballad
(String section, oboe, harp, contemporary rhythm section)
5. Funk Chart
(6 horns, Funk rhythm section, percussion)
